"Red, a colour of particular sanctity in a number of Afro-diasporic cultures (for example: the Maasai tribe of modern Kenya and Tanzania), is utilized to explore the positioning of femmes of colour on the spectrum of sacred to heathen- especially in opposition to the looming imposition of the blanched holy in globalized spirituality politics."
SACRED explores red as holy, as it pertains to the black body disrupting historically whitewashed symbolisms in religion.
